I hate mornings.

I get filled with some sort of unnameable dread, or guilt, or depression. This lasts with me until either I've surfed the internet for at least an hour, or until I arrive at school and the kids come. Even driving does not make me happy, which is unusual. This is why I don't like biking to work in the mornings, it just makes the dread last longer. It's so wierd, because then I snap out of it and I'm fine for ethe rest of the day. WTF?

Anyeays, just making a record...

Today it took me 2.5 hours to spend a £10 National Book Token (reedeemable at any bookseller). OK, I guess it's not that wierd, but I knew what I wanted. Only, what I wanted (a book of 50 walks in Oxfordshire) cost £7.99 and I'd have lost £2.01 in the process. But what other thing to buy? Another books of walks? A novel? A children's book? But I didn't want to spend much more of our precious hard-earned money on something I could get used.

Then, like a beacon, it shone out at me, Madhur Jaffrey's Eastern Vegetarian Cooking a book that I borrow a year ago and read voraciously but didn't want to cook from because Iknew I'd get hooked and never want to let it go. It's all MINE NOW! Whee!

So yeah. Not sure why I typed all that up, but there you go.

I think I'm old and jaded. I am SO TIRED of hearing fireworks going off... they're going off close to here (I can see two kids in the house opposite watching them... from a college maybe?) and I just got back from Bonfire Night at the school (which means I was there for 10 hours) and I am plumb worn out.

I have no idea what time the tinies start trick-or-treating, but I've got candy (unlike last year!) and a costume (for 70p plus clothing I already own!) ready. I suspect we'll get lots, as we're in a dense family neighbourhood, across the street from a school.

Ooooh, and I gotta remember to make a skull and crossbones for the door. 'Cuz I'm dressing up as a pirate. Yarr.

Today was my first day of work at Cool Conservation Charity, which will be part-time three days a week through the end of the year. Woot! I think I surprised them with how fast I can do data entry. *flexes*

I just had the most depressing bath ever.

Do not try to fill a bath with a power shower because you don't have the hot water turned on. It will only be tepid after sitting in the bath for the 20 minutes it takes the bath to fill less than halfway.

Just so you know.
